International Walk to School- Every year AIPC participates in the coordination and implementation of “Walk to School” in October. International Walk to School Month gives children, parents, school teachers and community leaders an opportunity to be part of a global event as they celebrate the many benefits of walking. In 2008, millions of walkers from around the world walked to school together for various reasons – all hoping to create communities that are safe places to walk. Reflective Tape Distribution ASD Schools- tape for over 10,745 students Mat-Su Schools- tape for over 6995 students People Mover Busses – signs offering reflective tape on all 55 busses- tremendous public response Reflective Tape/Clothing Distribution to Shelters and Rehabilitation Centers Covenant House Anchorage Rescue Mission AWAIC- Women’s Crisis Shelter Brother Francis Shelter Claire House Willa’s Way Recovery Center Bean’s Café American Red Cross Pedestrian Safety Presentations to Elementary Schools.
