Bicycle Safety

In late 2005, the municipality of Anchorage passed an ordinance requiring bicycle helmets on children under the age of 16.  Providence Alaska Medical Center has agreed to buy thousands of bicycle helmets for children in Anchorage.  These helmets will be distributed by the Alaska Injury Prevention Center, Alaska Safe Kids, Anchorage Police Department, Anchorage Fire Department, and several other partners.  AIPC created a web site called anchoragebikehelmets.org to facilitate this important program.

AIPC completed the Alaska Bicycle Helmet usage survey in 2006: Bicycle Helmet final 2006.pdf
